Our Western Cottage Garden

A new spin on grandma's old fashioned pleasure garden, our Western Cottage Garden proves that lushness really can be designed with drought tolerant plants.

Now in its seventh growing season since its initial planting, our Cold-Hardy Mediterranean Garden is another popular MGA Green Thumb Award winners located in our Xeric Display Garden.

Visit our beautiful Demonstration Gardens in our 5-acre oasis. Bring your camera and be prepared to experience guests in the garden. Many of our waterwise plants attract hummingbirds and butterflies.

"A stroll through the nursery's demonstration garden brings the HCG catalog to life. Luxurious swaths of lavender, salvia, penstemon, coreopsis, agastache and ornamental grasses prove that a xeriscape garden doesn't have to look sparse or dry."

We have spent years perfecting our growing methods for a wide variety of new and unusual garden-tested perennials, native grasses (buffalo grass) and shrubs. The "August Afternoons" Perennial Garden, is among our popular winners.

Vigor, cold hardiness, long bloom time and adaptability to the rigorous climates of the Western US are some of the criteria for our plant winners.
